Four lists of the top ten best genre horror
films since 2000. Dark Discussions continues their second part of their
four way round table of the best movies beginning with the millennium
going forward. Remakes and re-imaginings such as Zack Snyder’s Dawn of
the Dead make the list as well as a few Korean and French films.
Vampires appear in a few films as do mutants from the underground.
Stephen King showed up with The Mist in part one, but does he appear
again? Torture porn standards like Hostel and The Devil’s Rejects lead a
wave of an interesting subgenre. The nations of Norway, Sweden,
Australia, the United Kingdom, and the US join Korea and France. And
could an interesting film from an unlikely place like Serbia be listed?
With a wide range of films including
directing legends such as Martin Scorsese and Sam Raimi appearing
alongside newer sensations like Eli Roth, Edgar Wright, and Christopher
Smith, you can imagine the list is as diverse and wide ranging as all
the horror subgenres combined.
Wrapping up we discuss some of our top
genre directors the past twelve years and where they stack up against
others and the future. We also list some of the alternate films that
just missed making the lists. So listeners, get ready with pen and
paper and start writing down a group of films that you should go out and
search for to give you a fright tonight … or for a future Halloween
spectacular.
